‘Entourage’ Season 7 Episode 4 ‘Tequila Sunrise’ Recap

Posted by: admin   in recap · Comments (0)

Entourage Season 7 Episode 4 ‘Tequila Sunrise‘ : Drama and John Stamos engaged in a little ping pong diplomacy at Vince’s house this week. The two played when Stamos came over to feel Drama out about starring in a new TV series about two brothers working at the Maui Four Seasons. It’s a comedy — a new turn for Drama — and he’s excited about getting Stamos on board.

The problem is, Drama beats Stamos, who’s so into ping pong that he even has a coach. Bad move Drama, especially when coupled with: “It’s going to be a long day for Uncle Jesse!” Drama and Vance visit Stamos at his ping pong club — the newly opened SPiN Hollywood — to try to make amends. They play again and if Drama wins, the two do the show. Stamos wins, but he likes Drama’s spirit and agree to work with him anyway.

The ping pong angle was well struck here and is what ‘Entourage‘ does best. A high-stakes game of ping pong — suddenly the ultra trendy thing to do on the coasts — played out in front of fashionistas and industry insiders. It was highly absurd, smartly told and funny, too. The scene when Drama beat his paddle into the floor recalled what he did to Tom Brady’s golf club last season.

Eric and Scott attended the ping pong match together. The two called a truce of sorts, although Eric’s motivation seems to be that he’s inclined to use the friendship to keep a closer eye on Scott, who has bonded with Vince. We got a better sense of Scott in this episode and why he resents Eric. He chides him for being best friends with Vince and for marrying the boss’s goddaughter. Scott feels he has the cards stacked against him — but he’s still a cloying jerk. Now, maybe, he’s a likable cloying jerk. After the ping pong match Vince, Drama, John Stamos and Scott go to Las Vegas without Eric, who’s asked to go, but declines due to wedding preparation duty.

“We probably won’t have any fun,” says Scott, who sheepishly grins, turns and does an almost Chaplinesque waddle out of the scene. Great moment for Scott Caan as Scott.

Turtle and Alex went down to Mexico to explore a business deal. Once there, Alex introduces him to her family friend. The friend has a gun. What’s this business about? Tequila, it turns out. The friend wants Turtle to ask Vince to become a pitchman for the family’s Arion Tequila. Turtle balks, but there’s also the issue of the chemistry between him and Alex. The two decide to sleep on it.

On the NFL front, Ari assembles the Lords of Hollywood to tap into wallets and influence in order to bring a team to Los Angeles. He does well enough, but the absence of Lizzie Grant is apparent when he starts fielding questions about football, which he knows nothing about. Lizzie knew ball. Alas, she quit after Ari wouldn’t make her head of the TV department at the agency. She’s very upset as she leaves the company, perhaps exceedingly so. Ari denied her the promotion, but he does agree to her becoming part of the agency’s NFL pitch: A not insignificant position.

Anyway, she vows revenge, and it’s almost instantaneous. Ari gets a call from Andrew Klein in rehab. He hears, because half of Hollywood is in rehab he says, that Lizzie is siphoning off TMA clients at a precipitous rate. Andrew’s time on the phone is cut short because patients aren’t allowed cell phones and he’s hearing it from the nurse.

The patients join in.

“You know why I fired you as an agent?” says a rehab-bound Tom Sizemore to Andrew. “Because your punk ass never listened!”

A surreal showbiz double take only on ‘Entourage.’

Entourage Season 7 Episode 3 “Dramedy” Review

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

Vince continues his devil-may-care attitude by buying a motorcycle and hanging out with Scott more.  They go to an auction hall together, buy a dinosaur head off a lame cameo by a Saints player, and bring home the auctioneer girl to the house and throw a party.

Lloyd and E set up a meeting for Drama with a former sitcom writer coming out of retirement.  He comes up for a script with Drama about two brothers working at the Four Seasons in Maui… only problem, it’s a comedy and Drama doesn’t do comedies.  He spends the episode realizing what we’ve been doing for seven seasons… laughing at him while he’s playing the straight man.  Drama heads over to the party where he learns that John Stamos is being cast as his better looking brother.

Turtle continues to have problems with his business, meeting with Marvin, who breaks it to him he keeps losing money and needs to cut expenses.  Turtle asks the girls to take 50% less pay and they call quit.  Alex comes by the party to pick up cash after her check bounces, and invites Turtle down to Mexico with her to hear about a shady business opp.

Ari breaks the news about the NFL team to the entire office after Babs gets word of it.  Back at home, Mrs. Ari continues to be angry at Ari over Lizzie, and at the office she ends up asking for a promotion to head up the TV department.  He says no and Babs pushes him to say yes.  Eventually Lizzie quits and Ari tells his wife he fired Lizzie and things seem like they might be good at home again.

At the end of the party, E ends up getting into a shoving match with Scott and breaks the dinosaur head.  Gasp.  Hope our boy got insurance on it.

Entourage – First look at Sasha Grey

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

Adult film actress Sasha Grey makes her TV-series debut on the August 1 episode of HBO’s Entourage, playing an even wilder version of herself as Vince’s new long-term squeeze.

Naturally, Vince will have to defend his girl when his friends take some cheap shots. Though this is Sasha’s first foray into legit TV, she has previously starred in several X-rated spoofs of TV classics. Entourage creator Doug Ellin, who wrote the part especially for her, says, “I haven’t seen any of Sasha’s spoofs, but someone gave me the Entourage take-off which was very good — especially the scene with the two guys playing Turtle and Drama.”

Sasha believes these saucy send-ups are all the rage at the moment because, “it’s a relatable and safe way to watch adult film.” Also doing a cameo in the episode: Mike Tyson, who Sasha says was particularly excited to meet her on set (but respectfully did not chew her ear off.)

Entourage Season 7 Episode 2 ‘Buzzed’ Recap

Posted by: admin   in recap · Comments (0)

Hollywood super agent Ari Gold, who met with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on this week’s episode of ‘Entourage,’ certainly is.

But first, a little back story is due. The National Football League, the most popular sports league in America, doesn’t have a franchise in Los Angeles, the second biggest market in America. The Rams played in L.A. from 1946 to 1979, and then they moved to nearby Anaheim for 15 seasons until 1994 (after that, they moved to St. Louis). The Oakland Raiders moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and stayed until 1994, when they returned to their original city. Since then, the NFL hasn’t fielded a team in the Los Angeles vicinity.

With football’s popularity booming, the league probably isn’t sweating this fact. But should the popularity dip, it would be essential to have a team in Hollywood to score big hometown L.A. ratings. So the notion that league owners would want to feel Ari out about owning a franchise in L.A. makes sense. Ari (Jeremy Piven) initially wanted to rep the league in TV contract negotiations — a billion dollar-plus deal, incidentally — but they decided to keep representation in house. But Ari and the agency’s Lizzie Grant (Autumn Reeser) sufficiently wooed Jones and his crew enough to ask Ari about possibly ownership.

Good news for Ari and he’s so joyful, he whirls Lizzie around the office. Bad timing as Mrs. Ari (Perry Reeves) walks in right at that precise moment and storms out. This was building up since the last episode (actually, since the series began is more like it) when Ari blew off Mrs. Ari several times in favor of work.

Before we forget, a quick exchange between Ari and an agency employee on the eve of the NFL meeting might portend something big. “I have multiple clients with checks missing,” says the employee. Ari quickly movies into something else, but in business, when the checks aren’t getting delivered, there are big problems. We’ll see.

Did we mention Vince jumps out of a plane? Yep, both Vince (Adrien Grenier) and Scott Lavin (Scott Caan), who eggs Vince into doing it, make the jump. Vince also cuts his own hair short. The hair thing upsets director Nick Cassavetes, who needs a long-tressed Vince for re-shoots of his film. Obviously, Vince is going through something here. A yearning for a life on the wild side? Living out the adolescence he never had? A type of metaphysical journey? We don’t know, but this phase should have consequences of some type as the show has spent too much build-up time on it to let it putter out.

While we’re on the subject of Vince’s acting out, let’s illustrate one of our problems with ‘Entourage.’ What the acting-out Vince does is, at the end of the day, not bad stuff. We mean, if the worst kind of behavior Vince engages in is making a lame joke on TV at the expense of one of his movies, go sky diving and give himself a hair cut, then this character is too darn angelic. Yes, we’re aware that ‘Entourage’ is escapist male fantasy, but we call for a little edge, a little realness. There’s a lot of temptation out there for a young, handsome male Hollywood star like Vince. Skydiving is not our idea of acting out in a negative way. (We’re not saying we would do it, however). If there isn’t a mug shot involved, did you really do anything wrong?

The Turtle-Alex plot moves forward this week when Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) suspects his former employee/crush Alex (Dania Ramirez) maxed out his car service credit card when she worked for him. It turns out that Alex did use the card but only to buy Turtle’s mom a gift at Tiffany. And yes, the card was maxed out, but due to the store’s mistake of putting an extra zero on the charge. Turtle visits Alex to apologize and what looks to be a truce is called.

As for Drama (Kevin Dillon), he’s still looking for work. Yawn. Vince asks Eric to help him out but we suspect it’s a pointless exercise. Eric (Kevin Connolly) is now his manager. Hey Drama, we think Turtle might be looking for an extra driver.
